Our solid Oak and Pine alternative table top is a direct replacement to the Idåsen oak veneer desk top (which retails at £70-£120 excluding delivery). We guarantee a perfect fit, it will be delivered with all the same holes as the top from IKEA. Upgrade further to a 120cm x 80cm top, making it the same footprint as the small Bekant. Our sustainably sourced European oak is finished with a high grade oil to bring out the natural colours, our pine is finished with a light brown wax.

Oak or Pine?
This is a matter of preference, and also budget. Oak and pine have their own properties. Oak is a hard wood, whilst pine has hard and soft wood properties. Pine visually has a less tight grain, but still has lots of character. Pine is easier to mark and less glossy to touch and look at, and so you may wish to apply a polyurethane finish. Oak is less likely to mark when spilled on, and has a glossier finish.
